A little church...

Yesterday the Hubs and I went to a church service where the confirmation students of 2012 had a little time to present themselves...meaning a few choir performances, a homily by the pastor, and even an interpretive dance number...

That last one had me giggling a bit. That's definitely not the kind of thing we did when I was a confirmand!
(Doesn't saying things like that make you feel old? Heehee. I know that they do when I say them, which seems more and more often these days...I guess now that I'm wading into Mommy-territory, there's no looking back!)

Anyway, I wasn't the only one giggling whilst a handful of the confirmands performed their little 'dance' number...most 14/15 year olds aren't hard to embarrass or shy from nervous giggles with an entire congregation full of their families watching!

It was nice to attend regardless though, especially since my little sister-in-law, the youngest of the Hub's siblings is among the confirmation bunch this year!
She's not the only one even, one of the Hub's first cousins is getting confirmed this year too!
So coming up here, we have a few different confirmation events/parties to attend...it's a life milestone, right? Exciting territory for those girls!

Here's a couple of photos I snapped on my iphone during the shindig...

The altar/main window of the sanctuary

One of the choir groups...that's my sister-in-law on the far left of the bunch! Look at all the traditional Norwegian bunads that the girls are wearing...they all looked so beautiful!

The confirmands all came in with spring daffodils to hang through the cross that was sitting in front of the altar...

Some of the boys did the procession of the cross/altar flowers up the main aisle of the church at the beginning of the service...

There they are coming up on the altar, with the choir singing behind them....

The little sis again! She got to read the gospel passage from the pulpit during the service...she did a great job too!

So yeah, there's that.
Again, it was good to go...we sat with the Hub's parents and grandparents and got to congratulate our little sister on a great choir performance and bible reading before we headed home for the evening...her actual confirmation service and the family after-party are next weekend...then our little cousin will have her confirmation service/party the weekend after...we'll be busy this month!
I'll try and snap some photos of those occasions too. :)

So other than our little church service with the confirmands last night, we're laying low this weekend, I think...

Both the Hubs and I agreed that this past week felt really long, and we had both been super tired when Friday finally rolled around...
So the Hubs went out and returned some faulty gardening equipment back to the store earlier today, picked up some dog food/treats (not something we can run completely out of around here!), then got an overdue haircut on his way back home...
Yours truly stayed home. Tided up a bit, caught up on some house-linens laundry and tried to put my feet up a little too.
Now we're both cuddled in for the night with our pups.

Isn't it nice to have a sort of relaxing weekend once and a while?

Tomorrow we'll head to church in the evening, as usual, but that's about it for us.

This week, on Tuesday is Norwegian Labor Day, so we'll get to rest up a little then too, since everything is closed that day...

Thank the Lord for simple blessings, right? :)

Have a beautiful, blessed weekend everyone...whether you and yours are busy or trying to take it easy like us. :D
